A Day in the Life of Phil the Library Computer Lab Guy
Meet Phil. He works in the local public library in the computer lab. (Hence the name Phil the Library Computer Lab Guy.) One of his favorite hobbies is sleeping. The alarm rings, signifying that he needs to get up if he wants to arrive to work on time. Yet he feels tempted to just turn off the alarm and go back to sleep.
What should Phil do: [[wake up]] or [[go back to sleep]]?<img src="philwakingup.jpg" />
Phil wakes up and says, "I'm ready to take on another interesting day at my job!" After he takes a shower, gets dressed, and finishes eating breakfast he gets in his car.

Phil turns off the alarm and went back to sleep. However there's a problem. Phil has frequently done this on a regular basis. Some days he arrives on time but others he is either several hours late or he doesn't bother to show up at all. It's all because he loves sleeping so much that he tries to sleep as much as possible. Today is the day that his supervisors decided that they have had enough of his [[poor work ethic]].<img src="sleepingphilfired.jpg" />
Phil was fired from his job so he's no longer known as the computer lab guy. He now faces the difficult yet jaunting prospect of job hunting again.

Phil gets in his car and starts [[driving]].<img src="manwalkinghisdog.jpg" />
Phil sees a man walking his dog who are about to cross the street where he's driving. Should Phil [[stop his car]] and let the man and dog pass or should he [[just keep on driving]]?<img src="mananddogcrossstreetsafely.jpg" />
Phil stops his car and lets the man and his dog walk across the street. Once they reach the other side, [[Phil drives on to his job.|old lady]]
[[Go back to the beginning of this section|driving]].<img src="mananddogbeforetheyarehit.jpg" />
Phil drives so fast that he ends up hitting and killing both the man and his dog. [[He continues to drive on to his job without even stopping his car.|keeps on driving]]<img src="philbehindbars.jpg" />
Phil is arrested for manslaughter and leaving the scene of the accident. At his trial the judge discovers that Phil has had a long list of offenses such as receiving stolen used computer equipment, failure to return library books, jaywalking, and littering. The judge sentences Phil to prison. The only silver lining is that, through his previous experience in the outside world, he gets a job maintaining the prison library. He really loves his new prison job.

Phil monitors the computer lab that's located inside the local public library. It's still pretty early in the morning so things are quiet. Suddenly a 95-year-old woman approaches Phil asking for his help on how to send email so she can stay in contact with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who are scattered all across the country. How does Phil respond to this request?
"[[Go away you old bag! I don't see why you should care about learning how to use email since you're probably going to be dead soon anyway|old bag]]."
"[[Of course I'll help you|helps old woman]]."<img src="philhelpsoldlady.jpg" />
Phil shows the old woman how to send email to her many descendants. The old woman appreciates Phil's patient tutoring so much that she invites him over to her home this Sunday so she can bake a special lasagne dinner just for him.
When the old woman leaves very happy, Phil says, "I'm so glad I really love this job so I can help other people like her. Plus I'm getting a free lasagne dinner this Sunday, which really makes me happy!"
[[Meanwhile the day goes on.|littlegirl]]
[[Back to the beginning of this section.|old lady]]<img src="philandoldlady2.jpg" />
The woman indignantly reacts by screaming "Who are YOU calling an 'old bag'?!?" while beating him on the head with her [[heavy purse several times in a row|hospital]].<img src="philinhospital.jpg" />
Phil ends up in the hospital suffering from a concussion that's so severe that he ends up with brain damage. The doctors later found out that the old woman likes to carry things in her bag that are so heavy (such as a giant hardcover edition of the Bible) that her bag can be used as an offensive weapon. Phil ends up on disability and he never works at the library (or any other job, for that matter) ever again.

A young girl has an idea for forming a girls-only computer club that would meet in the library computer lab twice a week. She sees Phil and decides to approach him about her idea. Phil is sitting at his desk reading his emails, watching YouTube videos, and tweeting on Twitter. How does Phil respond to the girl asking him for help?
"[[That sounds like a great idea that you have. Let me ask my supervisor about it. She's currently in a meeting right now but I can talk to her once her meeting ends. I think your idea would be doable.|great idea]]"
"[[Go away! Can't you see I'm busy!|busy]]"<img src="philmakesgirlhappy.jpg" />
"Wow! Thank you very much!", the little girl exclaims. The little girl is so elated by Phil's positive response to her idea that she skips out of the computer lab while whistling a cheerful tune. Phil brings up her idea with his supervisor and she seems very recepitve to the idea so she tells Phil that she will bring it up with her supervisor (or Phil's boss' boss). After talking with his boss, Phil returns to his desk where he continues to monitor the computer lab while checking emails, watching YouTube videos, and monitoring the latest Twitter drama involving the latest tweets from the President of the United States.
Suddenly Phil hears a sound at the door of the computer lab.
[[Investigate what that sound is.|sound]]
[[Back to the beginning of this section.|littlegirl]]<img src="theressomethingaboutthegirl.jpg" />
There's something about the girl that Phil doesn't know. This girl was born with unusual supernatural powers. She has the ability to alter reality through just thinking. It would take a different Twine game to describe in full detail how she has terrified her parents and her neighbors with her powers. She has even exhibited her powers in school where a few classmates have either disappeared without a trace or they have returned to their homes with an extra arm or even an extra head. (As stated earlier, it would take a different Twine game to explain all this.) However she has never exhibited her powers at the library computer lab [[until now|bad man]].<img src="philandthegirl2.jpg" />
The girl becomes so enraged at Phil's decision not to listen to her about her idea for a girls-only computer club that she stares at him, points at him, and yells loudly "[[YOU'RE A BAD MAN!|jack-in-the-box]]"<img src="philasthejackinthebox1.jpg" />
With those words, she turns Phil into a jack-in-the-box. She picks up the jack-in-the-box and brings it home with her. Her parents recognizes Phil's face from the library but they dare not confront her out of fears that she would do something similar to them. They tell their daughter, "It's a good jack-in-the-box, honey. It's good. It's real good."
[[Next.|jack-in-the-box2]]<img src="rowdyboys.jpg" />
Two boys are entering the computer lab talking boisterously at the top of their lungs while bumping into each other, wrestling each other, and just being rowdy in general. How does Phil deal with this?
[[Ignores the boys while muttering, "Oh well, boys will be boys."|boys will be boys]]
[[Tells the boys to stop their behavior and to take it outside if they need to be rowdy.|stop being rowdy]]
<img src="philconfrontsrowdyboys.jpg" />
Phil tells them that they need to stop being rowdy inside of the computer lab or else they would have to go outside of the building. When the boys begin to protest, Phil tells them that he'll have them banned from the computer lab for a week if they don't stop. The boys decide to go outside. Things become quiet at the computer lab once again.
[[Closing time]].
[[Back to the beginning of this section.|sound]]<img src="rowdyboyswithsoccerball.jpg" />
One of the boys has a soccer ball with him. He starts kicking it to his friend, who proceeds to hit that same ball with his head in return. The two keep on passing the soccer ball to each other in the library computer lab. But then one of the boys [[misses the soccer ball that is kicked in his direction|soccer ball hits Phil]].<img src="closing.jpg" />
It is closing time and Phil chases out the one remaining person in the computer lab without incident. As Phil turns out the lights in the computer lab and prepares to close and lock the door, he reflects on how his day went. He reflects on how much he loves his job because it enables him to share his knowledge of computers with all kinds of people. He then leaves work and [[goes home]].
<img src="philasthejackinthebox2.jpg" />
The jack-in-the-box remains with the girl for a few years until she reaches high school and she decides that she is too old to play with a jack-in-the-box. She has her parents donate it to a thrift store where it has stayed on a shelf with other used toys gathering dust ever since.
THE END
[[Back to the beginning of this section.|littlegirl]]<img src="soccerballhitsphil.jpg" />
Meanwhile Phil is busy at one of the computers checking out the latest drama involving Kim Kardashian and her family (which is his secret guilty pleasure that he doesn't want the world to know about). [[Suddenly the soccer ball comes his way|soccer ball hits Phil 2]].<img src="soccerballhitsphil2.jpg" />
The soccer ball hits Phil in the back of his head with such a force that his head hits the computer monitor in front of him, [[which breaks the glass|Phil is injured]].<img src="philinhospital.jpg" />
Phil ends up in the hospital suffering from a concussion that's so severe that he ends up with brain damage. The boys are arrested for assault with a soccer ball but the damage is done. Phil ends up on disability and he never works at the library (or any other job, for that matter) ever again.
THE END
[[Back to the beginning of this section.|sound]]<img src="sleepingphil.jpg" />
When he returns home he begins his moonlighting job as a freelance writer. He frequently writes articles for various publications on how libraries can literally change the world based on his own personal experiences through his day job. He writes until he's tired then he goes to bed where he dreams about how he is looking forward to another day on the job as Phil the Library Computer Lab Guy.
